I am an experienced linguist with over 30 years interpreting, translation, proofreading/editing and teaching experience as freelance interpreter, translator and university tutor. I hold the Chartered Institute of Linguists’ Diploma in Public Service Interpreting (DPSI) in Czech language. I was awarded the Corsellis Cup for the best candidate in Health Pathway in 2007. As a member of the Chartered Institute of Linguists (CIOL) and Institute of Translation and Interpreting, I adhere to their Codes of Professional Conduct.
TRANSLATION SERVICES
I have over 20 years experience providing translations from English to Czech for public sector, private and business clients in the fields of pharmaceuticals and clinical trials, architecture, construction, automotive and mechanical engineering. I passed the EU competency test for Czech Language Translators in 2012 and I have worked on various documents for the European Union. I am an experienced memoQ user and hold Translator Pro licence.
REVISION / PROOFREADING / MACHINE TRANSLATION POST EDITING
I can assist clients with checking translated documents for accuracy, completeness, language and style, to make sure that their final product is of the highest standard and fit for purpose. I have experience with translating online training modules and checking their correct functionality. I understand the latest trends in the translation industry, having been attending webinars and training sessions on AI and MTPE (CIOL, ITI, Centre for Translation Studies University of Surrey). I hold a DeepL Pro licence.
WEBSITE AND SOCIAL MEDIA TRANSLATION AND LOCALISATION
I successfully completed the “Advanced e-business skills for translators” course at Swansea University in 2015. I can assist with developing and translating content for websites, social media and social marketing.
INTERPRETING SERVICES
I specialise in consecutive interpreting for the Public Sector. I am based in Wales but interpreting can be provided anywhere in the UK as well as remotely, over the phone or via a video conference.
TEACHING AND TRAINING
I have extensive experience teaching public service interpreting courses, including preparation for the DPSI exam, and training service providers on working with interpreters.
In 2019 I was nominated and shortlisted for the Inspire! Tutor Award and in 2024 I received Lifelong Learning Teaching and Student Support Award from Cardiff University. I have been trained by the Pásalo project to facilitate reflective practice support groups. I am actively involved in promoting and facilitating such support groups of interpreters in Wales and beyond.
